Bonnie and Mike have been married since March 8, 2002. The met through Bonnie's mother who worked with Mike at the Louisiana School for the Deaf. After a week of nightly chats on the phone, the couple finally met face-to-face at a Baton Rouge Mardi Gras parade. The next week, they had their first date at the China Doll on the West Bank in New Orleans. Later, Bonnie invited Mike to help her chaparone at the state Latin Convention where he soon realized he wanted this woman in his life and proposed at the covention amongst hundreds of teenagers. One week later, they celebrated their marriage in front of family and friends with a ceremony at the home of her sister. They both now attend Destiny International Church.


Mike has been a teacher at the Louisiana School for the Deaf since returning in 1999 from a three year stint in Costa Rica, where he taught in two different American schools. In the field of education, Mike has served as a teacher in elementary, middle school and high school, a supervisor and an administrator with the State Department of Education. He is presently the disciplinarian at LSD. Mike has also owned his own printing business for 13 years. He has worked in educational sales, and has served in numerous churches as a church administrator, music director, youth director, assistant pastor and children's pastor. He has his B.A. degree from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana and has his Master's of Arts in Teaching from Gallaudet Univeristy in Washington, D.C. Having an undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre, Mike has been in many theatrical productions throughout Louisiana and also in Costa Rica. He and Bonnie have written and directed an Easter musical. Both enjoy dressing up as "Lester and Judy Jo" and performing comedy. Bonnie sings and Mike plays his "wash tub". Often when Bonnie sings, Mike will use sign language to interpret the song. Since 1988 Mike has enjoyed performing as a clown. He has three clown characters - "Smiles" a white face clown, "Korn Kob" an august clown and "Hobbes" a hobo clown. Mike enjoys writing and has written 2 historical novels for young adults and has several more in the planning stages. Presently, Mike is serving, along with his wife, Bonnie, as the Children's Pastors at Destiny International Church. This offers Mike an opportunity to do a lot of acting and "dressing up" and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the children who atttend every week. Additionally, Mike enjoys being a public address sports announcer. He has served as the "Voice of the Flames" for Family Christian Academy and the "Voice of the Crusaders" at Christian Life Academy. He is now serving as the 'Voice of the Patriots" for the Southside Patriots football teams and the "Vioce of the Jaguars" from Juban Parc Junior High School in Denham Springs. He has also been the Master of Ceremonies for the the 2010 and the 2011 Coranations and the Balls for the Krewe of Poseidon Mardi Gras organization. For the Summer of 2011, Mike was the Summer Camp Director for the Louisiana School for the Deaf.
Of course, Mike's pride and joy are his 5 granddaughters - Grace Evangeline, Rose Elaine, Aurora Valentine, Gem Eden and Rain Edith; and his only grandson, True Orion!
